Step 1: Installing Jellyfin via Official Repository

Open terminal on your Ubuntu server and run the official installation script:

curl https://repo.jellyfin.org/install-deb-ubuntu.sh | sudo bash

Step 2: Enabling Intel / Nvidia Hardware Acceleration

To ensure smooth 4K video playback on phones and tablets, enable QuickSync (Intel) or NVENC (Nvidia) hardware transcoding in Jellyfin Settings:

1. Navigate to Dashboard > Playback > Hardware Acceleration.
2. Select Intel QuickSync (QSV) or Nvidia NVENC.
3. Check hardware decoding codecs (H.264, HEVC, AV1) and save settings.

Step 3: Accessing Web Portal and Client Apps

Open a web browser, navigate to http://<YOUR_SERVER_IP>:8096, create your administrator account, and link your media storage folders.
