Critical Bluetooth Flaw Exposes Android Devices to Remote Code Execution

Wireless Alert: High-Severity Bluetooth Vulnerability Discovered

Security researchers at BlueTooth SIG have uncovered a high-severity unauthenticated remote code execution flaw in the Linux and Android Bluetooth stack driver. The vulnerability permits nearby attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands without user interaction or pairing authentication. At Android People (androidpeople.in), we break down patch steps.

Understanding zero-click Bluetooth Vulnerability CVE-2026-4021

Tracked as CVE-2026-4021, the flaw stems from a buffer overflow during Bluetooth L2CAP packet parsing. Attackers within physical wireless range (approximately 30 feet) can send malicious pairing requests that corrupt kernel memory space.

How to Safeguard Your Device Immediately

  1. Install the latest July 2026 Security Patch update issued by your phone manufacturer.
  2. Disable Bluetooth when in public transport or crowded venues until the security patch is applied.
  3. Enable “Bluetooth Discoverability Timeout” in developer options to restrict broadcast visibility.
