Zenless Zone Zero Season 3 Guide: Best Characters and Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Season 3: What Changed and What Matters

HoYoverse’s urban action RPG Zenless Zone Zero entered Season 3 with a wave of new content that has reignited the community. The new season introduces a fresh chapter in the main story set in the Obol Squad’s hidden district, two new 5-star Agents, an overhauled Hollow Exploration mode, and significant balance changes that have reshuffled the character tier list. Whether you are a returning player coming back for Season 3 or someone just getting started, this guide breaks down the most important information you need to understand who to pull, which teams dominate right now, and how to clear the toughest Season 3 content efficiently.

New Agents in Season 3

Season 3 introduced two new limited 5-star Agents. Seraphine (Electric, Stun) is an off-field stun specialist whose kit revolves around applying Shock stacks to enemies while her team deals damage freely. Her signature playstyle fits into almost any team that wants consistent crowd control in the current Hollow missions without a dedicated on-field stunner. Marcus (Fire, Attack) is a hyper-carry designed to be kept on-field as long as possible, with a massive Anomaly synergy bonus that multiplies his base damage when three or more Burn stacks are active. He slots naturally into fire-focused Anomaly teams and is widely considered the strongest raw damage dealer in Season 3 at the moment.

Best Team Compositions for Season 3

The current season’s Hollow Exploration mechanics heavily reward teams that can apply multiple elemental anomalies quickly. The three strongest team archetypes right now are:

  • Marcus Burn Anomaly Team: Marcus (main DPS), Grace (Shock Anomaly support), and Soukaku (Ice support for additional anomaly stacking). This team shreds the new Elite enemies in under 60 seconds in most hollow configurations.
  • Seraphine Stun Control Team: Seraphine (stunner), Zhu Yuan (main DPS on stunned enemies), Nicole (off-field ether damage). This is the safest all-rounder team for players who want reliable clears without frame-perfect play.
  • Physical Rupture Team: Piper (main DPS), Lucy (ATK buffer), and Ben (defensive Anomaly generator). This team is the best budget-friendly option for Season 3 using exclusively 4-star Agents alongside any one of the stronger 5-stars.

Should You Pull Marcus or Seraphine?

If you have Polychromes saved for Season 3, the pull priority comes down to your current roster. If you already have strong stunners like Qingyi or Koleda, Marcus is the higher priority pull for pure damage investment. If you lack reliable crowd control and find yourself dying to Elite enemy combos in higher Hollow tiers, Seraphine will dramatically stabilize your clears and remains useful across all future seasons due to how universally the Stun archetype applies to enemies. If you can afford both banners (which requires approximately 160 Polychromes with average luck), Marcus’s weapon banner offers very strong value this season.

Season 3 Hollow Exploration Mode Changes

The biggest quality-of-life overhaul in Season 3 is to the Hollow exploration loop. HoYoverse has removed the older RNG-heavy “Bangboo blessing” tile system and replaced it with a path-planning map. You now see the full layout of each Hollow floor and can choose your route strategically rather than being surprised by random events. This change makes it much easier to prioritize treasure rooms, avoid unnecessary enemy encounters when time-limited, and route around the new “Ether Surge” tiles that deal significant damage to unprepared teams. The new map system will be permanent going forward.

How to Farm New Season 3 Materials

Marcus and Seraphine both require the new Resonium Shard material for advancement, which drops exclusively from the new Season 3 weekly boss: the Hollow Queen Vespera. You can farm Vespera three times per week at no cost, with additional attempts using Hollow Battery (the weekly recharge currency). Each Vespera clear drops between 3 and 5 Resonium Shards, meaning a fully advanced Marcus or Seraphine will take approximately 4 to 5 weeks of consistent farming. Plan accordingly if you intend to bring them to A-Rank advancement quickly.

Season 3 Event Missions for Free Polychromes

Season 3 launched with a time-limited story event called “Neon Fracture” that awards up to 1,200 Polychromes for free through daily mission completions, story clearance, and leaderboard participation. Do not sleep on these events — 1,200 Polychromes converts to roughly 19 pulls, which is nearly a free 5-star with good luck. Log in daily and complete the event missions before they expire at the end of the season. For the latest Zenless Zone Zero news, team guides, and patch notes, bookmark Android People.
