Understanding the V8 Type Confusion Vulnerability

Tracked as CVE-2026-1840, the vulnerability stems from a type confusion bug in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. Security researchers warn that remote attackers could craft malicious web pages to trigger memory corruption, potentially executing arbitrary code or escaping the browser sandbox.

How to Update Google Chrome Immediately

  1. Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.
  2. Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner and go to Help > About Google Chrome.
  3. Chrome will automatically check for updates and download the latest security build.
  4. Click Relaunch to apply the patch.
