Honkai Star Rail 3.0 Update: Story, Characters, and Rewards

Honkai Star Rail Version 3.0: A Galactic New Chapter

HoYoverse has launched Honkai Star Rail version 3.0 — by far the most story-significant update the game has received since its launch. Titled “The Amphoreus Saga,” version 3.0 takes the Astral Express crew to Amphoreus, an entirely new planet inspired by ancient Mediterranean and Hellenistic mythology. With a redesigned navigation system, two new limited 5-star characters, sweeping story revelations that connect to the game’s deepest lore threads, and a significant overhaul to the endgame progression loop, version 3.0 marks a genuine new era for Honkai Star Rail. Here is everything you need to know.

The New Planet: Amphoreus

Amphoreus is the largest single-update world addition in Honkai Star Rail’s history. Visually, it draws from ancient Greek and Roman architecture — marble amphitheatres, olive grove landscapes, flooded agora districts, and underground catacombs lit by eternal flame. The planet’s narrative revolves around the concept of “Titans” — enormous beings of elemental power whose petrified remains form the geography of the world itself. The local civilizations have built their entire cultures around revering and living within these Titan bodies. Mechanically, Amphoreus introduces a new traversal system: Titan Fragments — collectible resonance crystals scattered through Titan body environments that unlock new story dialogue, hidden rooms, and permanent exploration bonuses when assembled in the correct configurations.

New Character 1: Aglaea — Lightning Hunt Support

The first new limited 5-star character in version 3.0 is Aglaea, a Lightning-element character following the Hunt path. Aglaea functions as a speed-stacking buffer whose unique mechanic revolves around the “Garmentmaker” system — she generates thread stacks from her own speed stat that are “woven” into a temporary combat companion called the “Garment Hero” who acts as a bonus damage source once enough threads are accumulated. Her ultimate resets the Garment Hero’s energy to full and applies a team-wide SPD buff that scales with Aglaea’s own speed, making extreme speed builds not just personally beneficial but team-amplifying. Early simulations place her as a top-tier buffer comparable to Robin and Ruan Mei for SPD-reliant teams.

New Character 2: Tribbie — Quantum Harmony Support

The second limited 5-star is Tribbie, a Quantum-element Harmony character who introduces a unique multi-target damage amplification mechanic. Unlike most Harmony characters that buff a single damage dealer, Tribbie’s kit applies her primary buff to all allies simultaneously through a shared resonance field. Her skill generates a team-wide “Quantum Resonance Stack” that, when consumed by any team member’s attack, multiplies that attack’s damage by a percentage that scales with the number of enemies present — making Tribbie significantly stronger in multi-enemy content compared to single-target boss fights. She is the most accessible Harmony character for mixed-content players in the current version.

Free Character: Castorice

Every player who completes the version 3.0 main story quest will receive Castorice, a limited 5-star Destruction character, for free. This is the first time HoYoverse has given away a limited 5-star character through story progression rather than a banner pull — a decision that has been met with universal enthusiasm from the community. Castorice is described as a “break specialist” whose kit is specifically designed to deal massive damage during the Weakness Break state on enemies, making her a strong choice for the current endgame’s Warfare difficulty levels.

Endgame Overhaul: Divergent Universe Season 2

Version 3.0 also overhauls the beloved roguelike Divergent Universe mode with a full Season 2 reset, new Equations (powerful build-defining upgrades), new Blessings themed around Amphoreus mythology, and a completely new final boss encounter set within a Titan’s crystallised memory. The weekly Simulated Universe scoring has been replaced with a new “Eternal Garden” accumulation system that rewards consistent weekly participation rather than single high-score runs — a change that accommodates more casual play schedules while maintaining the same reward ceiling for dedicated players.

Version 3.0 Login Bonuses and Event Rewards

To celebrate the version 3.0 launch, HoYoverse is distributing substantial free rewards. All players receive 10 Special Star Rail Passes (equivalent to 10 limited banner pulls) via in-game mail on the first login. The new “Amphoreus Overture” story event awards an additional 800 Stellar Jades through mission completions, and a daily login bonus for the first 14 days of the version provides another 420 Stellar Jades total. Combined, first-time players joining in version 3.0 receive resources equivalent to approximately 20 free pulls on top of their existing reserves.
